[Mishmash] Can I pick my law to break?

Merry Christmas Hugh.

I fully support you. If a person breaks a law of the country that the
person is in at the time then they should be dealt with by the law of that
country.

I do however have a problem with a citizen of another country being
apprehended in a second country and taken to a third country and then
pursued by the fourth country under a system that would not be legal under
the laws of the fourth country.

If that is a bit obscure, let me fill in some details.

David Hicks, a citizen of Australia, was captured in Afghanistan and taken
to Guantanamo Bay. He has been held there for 5 years without being
charged. The US wants to prosecute him by way of a military tribunal which
they could not do on the mainland.

For the life of me I cannot understand this.

David

I have a simple question for people who support amnesty for the 12 million
or so criminals we have in the US politely called "illegal aliens" . . . if
they can choose to ignore the immigration laws, can I pick laws I choose to
break?

Heck, if they'll give people who violate our borders so they can run around
as if nothing happened, maybe I can get a card (blue?) so I can smoke
wherever I want. I know it will be breaking the law, but so what?
