If you are fearful of flying, keep in mind the only way to stop a plane is to crash it into something,

A "landing" is simply a controlled crash!

  I can sympathize with that - flying terrifies me 

  I don't fly often and I enjoy flying.  When we're at our cruising altitude that is.  Takeoff is my falling out.  I get the sensation that we're slipping backwards instead of climbing.  Must be because I'm left handed.  ;)
