[Mishmash] What law can I choose to ignore?

I was listening to the news this morning, and some fool was on talking about the illegal aliens and their "rights" and our duty to give them a chance.
Now there is one fact under all the debate . . . all of these people broke a law, and are breaking laws simply by being in the United States.
So, it occurred to me if we're going to let those folks ignore one of our laws, we should grant the same ability to everyone. Maybe I'll choose to ignore smoking laws, and just light up anywhere and anytime I please. Or perhaps I can just skip over all those laws about ownership of things, and take that neat car I saw at a dealership yesterday. Heck, its only a law that stops me, and I choose to ignore it!
The truth is the argument for granting anything to illegal aliens beyond a one way ticket back to where they came from is based on situational ethics . . . that oddball logic that says what is now drives what should have happened in the past. "They broke a whole bunch of laws for a whole bunch of time, but heck, they are here now so . . . ".
By the way, that is the same stupid logic that has the State of Virginia apologizing for slavery . . . something bad and aweful, but lawful when it was practiced.
