    I've been very busy myself.  I made the mistake of agreeing to do a full time study of Network Security here at the local technical college in the area.  It took more of my time than I had hoped for.  But we are done in two more weeks.  

    As part of our class, we'll be traveling to Raleigh, NC to compete in the Cyber Defense competition they have between schools ever year.  Each school has six people on their team.  Each school gets its own computer network.  I think they said there would be ten schools competing there.  

    Another group is of I.T. professionals who launch attacks on each of our networks.  We have to (1) document what attacks we are seeing and (2) install defenses for them.  

    The more events documented, the higher your score.  The more effective defenses installed also raises your score.  

    It should be interesting.  

    I have three more chapters/modules to do to finish my study.  I'd like to have it done by Monday of next week at the very latest.  

    Next quarter, I'm only going to take one course towards my CCNP.

No...I didn't leave, Linda.  I'm just incredibly busy with my job and nursing some illnesses.  Between kids and myself -- I just haven't had the time to spend on the list like I'd like to.  Right now I'm battling a temporary hearing loss in one ear.  I was originally told it was wax build-up only to learn it was a major infection in the ear canal and given antibiotic drops.  Well, it's been 5 days and my hearing is not any better.  My fear is that it has reached the ear drum itself.  I've had several operations on both ears as a teenager and I have a feeling that I'll be visiting an ENT for this latest development.  My gut says it'll take more than the drops to bring back my hearing. :-(
