Cow Pies are a rare "treat"!  When I was very young - back in the late 40's - and my brother was a couple years younger, we lived on a farm - no other kids around to play with so we had to make our own fun.  One thing we loved to do was follow the cows around the pasture and when one made a "pie", we'd hop into it in our bare feet!  We told our folks about it years late - along with other confessions <g> - and they were horrified.  THose were the days!
