Back when I was working for SkyTel, someone had made a small gun that
looked like a pager.
Every time I went through airport security with all of my pagers (I had
about five of them), they would freak out. I'd have to turn on every one of
them and demonstrate them.
Once I was leaving Columbia to return to D.C.. The security guard
wanted to know why I had so many pagers. I explained to her that I worked
for a rather large paging company and gave her my business card. She asked
if she could keep the card. I didn't care if kept it and told her she was
welcome to keep it.
She was training a new guard and babbled on and on about being
suspicious of pagers.
Now, I guess the cell phones will be subject to the same scrutiny.
When I took a deaf friend to the airport with her MacIntosh, she took it
in the cabin with her. They made her power up the MacIntosh at the security
gate and prove it really was a computer.
Regards,
Fred
