[Mishmash] Nothing in particular

Hi Robyne,
I so well remember when the Lake Illawarra hit the bridge. I was down there
six months later and experienced the disintegration of the traffic system.
I bought a wonderful slide showing the two cars hanging over the broken end
of the bridge and was very glad it was not me.
My cousins lived in Lindisfarne and they heard the bang and felt the tremor
but had no idea what happened until the following morning. Incredible.
Glad you have some snow on Mt Wellington. It is important that the springs
for the Cascade Brewery keep flowing :-)))))
Cheers
David

Hi Gale, It has been quite. We are having snow in Tasmania today so it a bit
cold. At least the days are getting longer so we are over the hump. Come on
summer!
http://www.rosebay.tased.edu.au/camera.htm this is a web cam that shows our
Mt Wellington no snow yet but it should happen tonight. As you can see
Hobart is a pretty small place. The bridge was hit by a large cargo boat
about 32 years ago and took out two sections in the middle. The boat is
still on the bottom under the bridge. It caused a lot of problems as most
people who lived on the eastern shore worked in the city and it was the only
bridge the next one up is about an extra 30 klms and only two lanes. They
put on and built ferries and a temporary bridge to help but it really caused
a lot of problems for years. Some people wont travel on the bridge even
today.
I have never heard of Scooter or Barry Bond so that went over my head.
I ordered one of the little radios Fred sent some information on and its a
beauty I'm so impressed with it. It only took a week to arrive so that was
even more amazing. It was quicker than local post. I like the idea of no
batteries and it works very well. We have a property we go and stay at and
we haven't any power except for generators so it will be handy for up there.
Hope you get you town back soon Susan.
Robyne
