Those folks are still tribal. 

If there is anywhere to look for a reason for the mess, it has to be the British leadeship in the 1940s and 1950s when they designed the region around oil, not political or cultural factors.

  I think that is right Hugh.  They seem destined to fight, it's a way of life for them.

  In Iraq, we have to understand too, that for generations this group have raised children with the Motto: Hate America.  It will take generations, if ever to change that.  That means we are in for a duration unless we pull out.  There will come a point when we have to appoint leadership or let them elect their leader, or if they have done that then we will have to fall back and let them have a go at it without us.  I don't think anyone can reasonably predict when we have reached that point.

    To me the whole thing winds up being fairly simple. There is a whole society locked in the evolution stage of the dark ages that wants to bring the rst of us back there. As long as we keep them shooting at each other they seem happy.

                 I think we can all agree that all of those events &  heart wrenching scenes fits the defination of war.  It's the time it is taking to find &  stop some of these fanatics that is weighing on the minds of most individuals.  As for being an alarmist, I think we would all be very unwise to not be alarmed.
