David, what is that island one minute into the program?
Bill, be sure to see the cool microphone at the nine minute mark. I'm sure you'll recognize it.
Here's to The Flying Doctors!
Fred

Hi Fred,
One off means it was unique. I could call the Mona Lisa a one off in that there has never been another. Friends was not a one off as there was a bunch of seasons.
It is not running on free to air in Oz. I don't think it is running on pay but only because I have not noticed it in the program or the ads.
Cheers
David

David,
A one off is an Aussie term I haven't heard. Enlighten me. ;-)
Is the series still running? I'd like to know.
Stay in touch.
Regards,
Fred

Well Fred, it was a Crawford production. This is what I found:
http://www.crawfords.com.au/libary/drama/flyingdocs.shtml
6 hour mini-series produced in 1984 (2 hours x 3)
Executive Producers: Hector Crawford, Ian Crawford & Terry Stapleton
Producers: Charles Tingwell & Graham Moore
Associate Producer: Mike Lake
Director: Pino Amenta
Writers: Terry Stapleton & Vince Moran
Filmed on location at Nulla Station in the far west of New South Wales, Minyip in the wheatlands of north-west Victoria & Mundi Mundi Plains on the South Australian border beyond Broken Hill
That suggests it was a one off.
Cheers
David

David,
I was told it went into a new season. Are you sure about that?
I got a copy of the original Flying Doctors movie on Ebay some years back. Later, I got six of the television episodes. It's never been shown in The States. But it has been shown in Europe and other parts of the world, I'm told.
I think it's fantastic. With all of the junk we have on our cable channels here, I don't understand why they don't put The Flying Doctors on one of them.
Regards,
Fred
