Yep, I sure recognize that D 104. Not only is it familiar to hams but it's recognized even in audio equipment history as an early very successful crystal microphone.
BTW I suspect it went out of production due to the chromium content in its case and stand. Auto and appliance manufacturers dropped chrome finishes because environmental laws required industries to control and limit discharges and disposal of chromium wastes from plating baths, etc. These controls are very costly to implement so we now find true chrome plating mainly on small expensive instrument parts.
