Several years ago I was given tickets to hear a speaker brought in
dealing with successful women. I think it was either Sally Fields or
Patty Duke - terrible that I can't remember.
Anyway, this person couldn't come and Anne Margaret came in her place.
She was marvellous - she said it was her initiation into public speaking
and she didn't have much prepared but she spoke for over an hour about
coming from Norway and how her career got started and all the wonderful
people who helped her along the way - and making films with Elvis and
the Grumpy Old Men. She talked about her personal life - I thought a bit
too much as she told us where she jogged every day, etc. - she won me
over talking about the rescues she had taken in over the years and her
current cat family. She appeared very down to earth and a truly kind
person. Physically, I couldn't believe how tiny she is - the podium
dwarfed her so she didn't spend much time behind it.
Don't want to ramble but after the positive note about her yesterday, I
wanted to add my own personal impression of her - very positive!
