[Mishmash] Why I Don't Watch "The news"

There are two questions I've never seen answered:
* Military deaths.
I know we've had many since the war started, but what is the net difference
between during the war and deaths in our military during a similar period
just because there are so many of them doing dangerous things daily.
* The cost of the war.
Again, what is the difference? I hear things like "it costs $1 million a day
for an aircraft carrier to be in the gulf". Well, the thing isn't free if it
is someplace else.
I truly think the key reason for the war being started was to protect the US
homeland . . . and it has.
Now we have attack #2 in the white house (we can thank McCain for that one)
and we seem focused on setting ourselves up for another attack, or worse a
coup.

Hugh - I agree totally. You can't show a weak side - like Obama is doing
apologizing round the world for everything previous administrations have
done (wasn't he the one campaigning on putting partisan issues aside ???)
The terrorists didn't succeed on Bush's watch - though they tried.
I don't mind their killing each other - less we have to deal with - its when
members of our forces are struck down that is upsetting. (Canada lost two
more in Afghanistan over the weekend.)
