Ah, but we have not walked in their shoes, and it makes a huge difference.  Having lived in the south for over 68 years, I have seen first-hand how the blacks were treated.  It was horrible.

I cannot blame Obama or any of them for being proud of their race.  They have caused a 180 degree turnaround since my childhood, and it took years of hard work to accomplish this.

As for how they define their race, the laws say if they have 1/16th of black blood, they are considered black.

They are just following the law.

How about he describes himself as an American, a Hawaiians, a "tall guy" instead of waving skin color at us.

I'm tired of people yelling "forget I'm black" at me . . . its kind of like saying "don't look at the wart on my ear".

It would have been kind of strange if he had described himself as half-white, mulatto, mixed breed......I liked it when he was talking about getting a dog from a shelter for his girls, "a mutt like himself."
