Hi Hugh,

I thought someone reasonably important once said this “Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent, a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.”  To me that does not exclude non-citizens.  If you believe in justice then why don’t you believe in it for everyone?

These are people who for the most part can't be sent back to their home countries because they don't want them, and have been accused of war crimes.

You are right, David, US law does call for fair trials . . . for US citizens, not those who want us dead just because we are US citizens. I don't believe the US justice system should be available to illegal aliens who are in this country, let alone the crowd we have at Gitmo. 

I've watched our new public housing resident now during his first week . . . my guess is we'll have our first major attack on US soil in eight years in the next few months.

these people are accused of war crimes - considering the percentage that have been released and have gone back to being terrorists (one was recently named head of some terrorist activity by bin ladan) i don't think there are many that are innocent.  why do i call these people bad people?  because their mission in life is to kill as many non-muslims as they can - including children any way they can.  war crime criminals are not privy to the same rights as regular criminals - they never have been and they certainly shouldn't be now.  that's just my opinion - actually - my opinion is we could bomb all of gitmo and that would solve the problem.  no need for you to "prophetlitize" to me about it - that's how i feel and there's no changing my mind and i ain't feeling guilty about it.  in fact - i would guess that atleast 46% of america feels the same way........that would be about 85% of the land mass of this country.

Sorry I am a bit late off the mark but I have to ask a question.  Assuming gitmo is Guantanamo Bay, how can you say the inmates are bad ones when they have never been found guilty of anything?  Doesn’t the US still believe in innocent until proven guilty?  It seems to me that as the US invited (compelled) these people to go to Cuba then they are honour bound to accept them into the US if they close down the Cuban Gaol.  If there is still the belief that they have committed a crime, put them in a mainland gaol and try them in a court of law.  It is all very easy from there.  If they are innocent they are freed; if they are guilty they stay in gaol for a period.

fred - you left out the closing of gitmo with no plans of what to do with the detainees there.  bring them over here?  put them in the prison across the river from me?  people escape from there often.  i dont want them setting themselves off in my town.  no other place wants them either - they are a bad sort.  73 of the ones they've let out of gitmo have gone back to terrorism.
