I agree. I first heard it years ago while I was doing some field work in
Charleston. Much later on I learned that she's Canadian. There have been
many Canadian singers who've struck our fancy here. Gordon Lightfoot and
Hank Snow are among them.

Now I'll fast forward a bit to strongly recommend some CDs: "Trio" and "Trio
II" featuring Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt and Emmy Lou Harris." Honky Tonk
Angels" by Dolly Parton, Loretta Lynn and Tammy Wynette which was completed
between the Trio albums was also a big project.

These three albums can be found used on eBay for about three bucks apiece
plus shipping making them
great buys that can be enjoyed for decades.

The Trio II disc include a glass armonica among the instruments. The glass
armonica is a Ben Franklin invention that basically consists of a series of
glass bowls spun on a common shaft which are played with wet fingers. The
glass armonica inspired the original Hammond mechanical tone wheel generator
organs which are still in demand today by musicians who strongly favor them
over the purely electronic later designs.
