[Mishmash] An Open Letter to President Obama - Lou Pritchett

I expect you're right about a lot of others agreeing with it, Fred.
And there are certainly rants coming from both ends of the
spectrum, but as I saw it, this one was from the right.

My problem is living in a battleground area. Virginia generally, and
northern Virginia in particular, is ground zero for both
parties, who are trying to convince the thus-far-unconvinced that
they are on the side of God, motherhood and apple
pie. Non-stop, meaning you have to sit through anywhere between two
and four political ads during every break in a program
that you might otherwise enjoy watching. They are largely slogans
instead of facts, highly repetitive and largely fact-bare.
Maryland, where I live, has its own local candidates and issues on
the air: redistricting, gay marriage, allowing more casinos
and table-game gambling in the state, etc. Virginia has a Senate race
and several local contests on the ballot.

I don't remember whether there were any elections going on when you
lived in this area. If there were, I'm sure you
remember the situation.

Now, where did I leave my earplugs?

73, Dick

A fictional character. :-)
