Dick,

     You and me both.

     I suspect that they had a choice of replacing the septic tank or
doing the sewer hookup.  The former would have required that we start
the paperwork process all over again due to the laws governing the
sale of homes with septic tanks in New Mexico.

     My guess is that the difference in cost was such that it made more
sense for them to hook me up to the sewer.

     Twenty-six years with no service (the seller told me that when she
signed the papers twenty-six years ago that the papers did indeed say
they were on the sewer)?  That must have been one messy tank.  I was
told that the plumbers 'imploded' it when they hooked me up to the
sewer.
