[Rebels1972] knights of the highway

I share Dale's opinions. Obviously there's money in the trucking industry or most of the people wouldn't stay in for so long and make a career out of it.
Fred why don't you get on a worthwhile subject like the under paid, overworked teachers in America?
Like Tony said on an earlier email.....
Most people enslave themselves

Tony,
At the rate they pay those new truck drivers, I can't say I share that opinion.
They make it sound awfully good, that's what a sales pitch is supposed to do. But it isn't as good as it sounds. When one has found one has made some big mistakes, it isn't so easy to get out of the contract.

Fred

Fred,
No one has to agree to accept company paid training. You can just finance it your self or pay for it when you leave. Put it on a no-interest credit card and pay for it over a year. Five thousand dollars will not enslave anyone. Gee, that's less than a couple months pay for the below-average trucker. Just about anyone could pay that off in a year if they scrimped and saved a little. By law, a trucking company would have to give an employee the right to pay that training off. It sounds to me like the trucking companies did the truckers a favor by offering to pay for their training. Some people don't have the resources to come up with the money for training. However, that is not enslavement, that is a courtesy.
Tony

Susan,
It's not the same thing. He has a chance to move up, they don't get him into debt with them to get the training to do the job they want him to do.
I'll be that Russell quit now, he wouldn't have to pay them for his training.

Fred

Hey Fred,
Doesn't the college hold you in economic slavery? I know that Goodyear holds Russell in slavery and thank God for it. We can eat, pay our bills and live a nice life.

Susan,
P. S.. You notice that a safe driver *is* off the road now because of the economics of the situation (me).

Yea you could but save your breath.... I think you're such a safe trucker that you need to resign from that teaching position and resume driving. We need safe drivers. Sounds like you loved it and what an advocate you would be!!!

Well, Susan,
I say stay away from them because what if some other motorist (of the four wheel type, for example) turns in front of him and he needs to swing left or right to keep from wiping that person out (once, two pickup trucks turned diagonally and less than thirty feet in front of me at the exit on an Interstate in New Jersey. I didn't miss hitting them by much). They were flooring it.
We could talk about the four wheel type of driver, too. And I could say some things there.
Regards,
Fred

Dale... I'm so sorry you lost your cousin due to the reckless actions of a trucker. I have officiated many funerals over the last 25 years of my ministry now. The lost of a loved one is very hard. You never get totally over that. I mourn with you as I have many others.... again, I'm so sorry man. John Dale
