I think that for the article to be a good read, it needs to include all of
Pat's  achievements while at Emma Sansom and maybe some of his achievements
while at Homewood and Hoover High.  I was looking for photo opportunities
during the award presentations and did not listen well to what the actual
names of the presentations were.  It seems that they received a flag flown
over the capitol for 3 days in their honor and a document stating the flag's
authenticity or some such verbiage.  He also received a resolution of some
kind.

 

I can't remember who the speakers were who announced the awards.  I guess
I'm not a very good reporter

I think that's a great idea.  Could you contact a report from the paper and
speak to him about the reunion, what was done for Pat, etc.

He could write the article and you supply the photos.

I had an idea that I think would be nice but I'm not the best letter writer.
The Gadsden Times has been filled with articles lately honoring Rip Reagan
and they have really plugged the events that have honored him lately.  I
think that it would be nice if a letter with picture could be sent to the
Birmingham News that outlines the citations and achievements awards that Pat
received so that the people that he lives around could recognize him.  Even
if an article appears in the Gadsden Times, Birmingham people won't see it.
Maybe we could pass around some ideas here and someone with good letter
writing skills could put it all together.  I could add a picture of two and
we could send it in.  I'm sure that it would be published.
