    If you are familar with how I-75 cuts through Atlanta, if you go south on I-75 until you get outside the Permeter (I-285) on the south side, it is three exits further south of Atlanta.  

    I live off of I-75 on the north side of Atlanta outside the north side of the Perimeter.  But since I teach night classes, it's not a problem getting there.

    Tony, 

        I am teaching Cisco courses (computer networking) and PC Maintenance and Repair.  

        They just sent me to Florida to get two more certifications.  I passed both of them.  One of them I needed to be able to teach this fall.  That was called 'IT Essentials'.  It's about PC maintenance and repair.The material corresponds directly to the A Plus certification that is given by the PC industry (Cisco can't call it A Plus because it is not their certification, but the course material is the same as the A Plus).  The Cisco Certified Network Associate courses are taught in a sequence of four (CCNA 1, 2, 3, and 4).  I will be teaching CCNA 1 through 3 this fall as well.  I suspect I'll be teaching CCNA 4 in the spring semester.  I wasn't certified to teach CCNA 4 when they hired me.  But I am now.  They sent me to Florida for a week to do some instructor fast track training.  They only expected me to get the IT Essentials.  But I passed the test for that on Tuesday morning.  So they told me to go ahead and do the CCNA 4 since I was still down there.  I pulled it off on Friday morning and drove back in the afternoon.  Since I am now certified to teach CCNA 1 through 4, have passed the corresponding Cisco certification exam (the CCNA exams) as well, and have taught at least one Cisco course, I am now being certified as a Cisco Certified Associate Instructor.  Cisco told me I'd receive the certification in the mail in a few days.  

        I've taught most of this stuff, but not in a Cisco Academy program.  I did teach CCNA 1 at my old technical college in South Carolina (where I was first certified as a Cisco instructor).  When I was at Western Carolina University (WCU), I taught much of this material.  But we weren't a Cisco Academy.  WCU wasn't interested in becoming one.  We did our own thing, so to speak.  

        WCU did have a magnificent Cisco laboratory from a grant they got from the federal government.  It had all kinds of Cisco LAN (local area network) and PC equipment in it.  But it didn't have any WAN (wide area network) equipment at all.  So when I taught the WAN course, all I could do was give them LAN labs while teaching them WAN technology.  I had a ten thousand dollar WAN simulator on order.  But it got tied down in the system and never arrived before I left WCU.  I got an email from the vendor a couple of months ago (I had corresponded with the vendor on my personal email account).  It appears that they finally got the requisition from WCU.  Great timing since they are doing away with the telecommunications program (which was one of the reasons that I left WCU).  They are going to continue to offer a telecommunications minor.  But I didn't feel that that was worth hanging around for.

          I don't think that I mentioned that I am teaching at Clayton State University full time starting this month.  I was a part timer for them during July.  But I am a full timer now.
