[Singles] Watch the Orion Pad Abort 1 Flight Test Thursday, 5/6

You're invited to view the first flight test of the Orion launch abort system on NASA TV or watch on the Web at http://www.nasa.gov/ntv, Thursday, May 6, at 7 a.m. MST.

Coverage on NASA TV begins at 6:30 a.m. from the launch site at the U.S. Army's White Sands Missile Range near Las Cruces, N.M.

The launch window extends from 7-10 a.m. MST, with liftoff targeted for the beginning of the window. Pad Abort 1 will be the first fully integrated test of the launch abort system being developed for the Orion crew exploration vehicle. The information gathered through the test will be used to design and develop future systems that provide a safe escape for crews in the event of an emergency.

A news conference<http://www.spaceref.com/news/viewpr.html?pid=30720> will be held approximately one hour after the test and carried live on NASA TV. The participants are:

If the launch is postponed to Friday, May 7, the Rotunda will reopen at 6:45 a.m. for a launch at 7 a.m.
